At the memorial site for George Floyd at 38th St. and Chicago Ave., a community is growing without the need of the police. Donations and volunteers from far and wide have been pouring in while the community is looking out for itself, creating mutual aid stations for those in need during this time of pandemic and a time where Southside stores are still shuttered or burnt down.
"I feel good right now, because the people around me require you to feel good and it's just good. It's good in the hood, it's good in the hood, hay!"
